Our goal is to have a First Class Production, that rider's of any level can enjoy!  We thrive to help novice riders learn, & become more confident in there sport.  We encourage everyone to come out & have fun, in a friendly enviorment. Our customer's satisfaction is our #1 priority!

Our Business

Lazy Y Arena was originally founded by Jimmy Joe Yanez in 2003 in Chowchilla CA. Jimmy Joe's first event hosted was on Thursday night's & Sunday morning  ACTRA team roping's.  Jimmy Joe  was the youngest arena operator in ACTRA history. Lazy Y Arena would sometimes get over 300 team's per day! In 2005 Lazy Y Arena Moved to Madera CA, & continued to host the ACTRA roping's. In 2006 was the last year Jimmy Joe hosted ACTRA roping's. In 2007 Lazy Y Arena was leased from April to August Hosting ACTRA team roping Buckle give aways. During 2008 Lazy Y Arena was used only for personal use. Toward the end of 2008, Jimmy Joe Yanez & Lissa Villanueva decided to start back up for 2009. This time to to make it a little bigger & Better. In Feb 09, Jimmy Joe  went to the ACTRA board & got permission to host ACTRA roping's again.  With a new start, also came a new event weekly Saturday sorting's Hosted By Lissa Villanueva. In Febuary 2012 LAZY Y ARENA moved to it's NEW LOCATION back to Chowchilla! We hope you all LOVE our NEW Location!

Who We Are

Here is a Brief Biography of our staff...

Jimmy Joe Yanez was born in Simi Valley, CA. When he was about  6 year's old moved to Merced, CA  were he lived for 10 years at the Flying M Ranch. Jimmy Joe has been riding scene he was 2 Year's old. Jimmy Joe Showed in 4H growing up. He started Roping when he was 11 years old & is part of the reason for Founding Lazy Y Arena.  He is the founder of Lazy Y Arena in 2003.

Lissa Villanueva was born in Clovis, CA. Went to school in fresno, CA. Started riding when she was 10 Year's old. She started Jumping when she was 12 years old.  In 2001 Lissa Moved to Madera, Ca. Were she started to ride Western. In 2003 Lissa Started showing Reined Cow Horses with the Petty's. She has been showing cow horses ever Since.

 Jimmy Joe & Lissa Met in summer 2005 from a friend of the family. They would go places together, roping's, sorting's & shows. They both helped in putting on roping's. In late  fall 2008 , They both felt they would like to try putting on event's again. So in February 2009, They started there sorting's. In March they started there ACTRA Team Roping's. The Couple hope's to do much more in the year's to come...
